SILVER SULA is a gentleman's motor yacht built in 1965 and designed by John Bain. She was commissioned by Mr John Stenhouse of Glasgow, to be built at the Silvers Yard Rosneath Scotland SILVER SULA was ceremoniously launched on 23 March 1965 by Mr Stenhouse’s wife.
Silver's Yard at Rosneath was, in its day, considered to be one of the finest builders of motor yachts in the UK, if not the world. John Bain, the designer of the Ormidale Class, was also recognised as an accomplished first class naval architect. Together, the Bain and Silver’s Yard combination, built the Ormidale to exacting standards. Out of the 15 or so built only a handful remain. SILVER SULA is believed to have been the last and the only one, when built, classed Lloyds 100 A
She has had 7 owners all of which, including the present owner, have maintained her to the highest of standards. Quite frankly you’d be ‘Hard Pressed’ to find a Historic Classic Motor yacht in better condition. She is well equipped throughout for comfortable extended voyages. In the current ownership she has cruised the South Coast of the UK
In summary SILVER SULA is a fine looking vessel which, as you would expect from her pedigree, makes an excellent comfortable passage maker. She would, if built today, cost several millions! But sadly they do not build them like this anymore.
